What are vitamins?

 

Vitamins are organic chemical compounds. There are two types of vitamins. They are water soluble and water insoluble vitamins.  

Vitamin B and C are water soluble vitamins

Vitamin A, D, E and K are water insoluble vitamins
  

 

 

Why do we need vitamins?

 

Vitamins are needed in miniscule amounts daily for the proper metabolism, growth and function of the body. Each type of vitamin involves in performing number of tasks and together they provide overall good health and wellbeing.

What are vitamin supplements?

 

We get vitamins from our diet daily. We need to take variety of foods in order to supply all types of vitamins. If we take diet that contains fewer vitamins then we may fall under vitamin deficiency. Vitamin deficiency can disable the cell and organ functions of the body. In order to recover from vitamin deficiency, vitamins are directly supplied in the form of tablets, liquids and other dosage forms. Some of other reasons for vitamin deficiency are old age and usage of antibiotics. Therefore, vitamin supplements are used recover from vitamin deficiency.
