What is soft drink?

 
Soft drink is a carbonated water with different flavors. Soft drinks do not contain alcohol. Most soft drinks contain sugars, flavors and concentrates. Cola, lemon and orange flavored sparkling drinks are examples of soft drinks.
 

What is cola?

 
Cola is a drink with caramel color. Colas contain sugar, cola nut mix, caffeine, flavors and preservatives. Caffeine in colas stimulates nerves and makes us active. Some colas are prepared without caffeine.
 

Effects of soft drinks on health

 
Soft drinks consumption is very high in the present world. Several reports suggest that consumption of soft drinks may have different adverse effects on health.
  • Drinking more soft drinks may provide excess sugars to the body and leads to obesity
  • Due to presence of caffeine, drinking soft drinks in the night time may cause insomnia (sleeplessness)
  • Makes obese and obesity is the predisposing factor for diabetes
  • Soft drinks contain sugars. These sugars favor the bacteria and cause dental decay.
  • Soft drink contains phosphoric acid that replaces the calcium in bones resulting in reduced bone mass. Reduced bone mass weakens bones and leads to osteoporosis.
